Stick to Your Resolution and Keep the Weight Off

Weight Loss Tips / Keeping New Year's Resolution To Lose Weight

By Nicole Kent

It is time to settle into another New Year. Holiday decorations were stored away. Are you prepared for new challenges? Your mind is probably keen on thoughts of renewal as the new decade begins. Thinking about your New Year's resolutions, like many people in the same situation, your first thoughts turn to your weight and how you can get rid of those extra pounds to fit back into your favorite clothes. Calm down! You are not gonna let this year's resolution be like all the rest. Remember Bridget Jones? She began her diary writing 33 resolutions. Then 364 days later, she wrote "Number of new year's resolutions kept 1. An excellent year's progress."

First things first, be good to yourself and it will help you cope with your worries. It would be very wise that you have a positive self-image and feel good about who you are. Healthy eating and regular physical activity will improve your self-esteem. And having good feelings about yourself is a key to choosing the right diet and fitness which will fit into your lifestyle.

Most people begin their weight loss journey by 'telling' themselves to 'lose weight'. Try to be a bit kind to yourself. Say 'I'm gonna begin to be healthy and take better care of myself'. Also, you should focus on foods that you will be eating, not the ones you will be avoiding. 'Don't eat this, don't eat that' can leave a negative impact on your mind. Make use of positive and motivational words. When it comes to weight loss, you may want to think about every detail of your resolution, including diet planning, exercises, time and effort. Most people create their own road block by not thinking about details.

Having the knowledge on how to get in shape properly will help you set realistic weight loss goals. Do your research and learn the answers to your questions. What is your body type? What type of healthy eating plan should you set? Which nutrients would be beneficial for your health? How can you work some exercising into your daily routine?

If you have made the commitment to burn extra body fat in this year you should understand that there are going to be obstacles to overcome in order to reach your weight loss goal. Isn't it like that with any goal anyway? Quit just talking about it and take action. Moving your tongue did not help you lose weight in the past years, so make a change and start moving your body! You don't think you can see the results without getting a go on, do you?

Losing weight is hard work. You may have difficulty adapting to your new lifestyle. Your body may resist. Give your body a chance and it will figure out what to do with the new foods you put in it. You will see how quick your body adjusts to the new workout plan. Remember that when you stick to your resolution to lose weight and get fit, the results will be more than just great looks. You will improve your health and enjoy a better yourself. Next year, you will have to come up with another resolution other than trying to burn fat.
